MONTGOMERY- The Alabama Department of Homeland
Security urges Alabamians to take a few minutes
Thursday to remember the lives of those lost in
the terrorist attacks on
September 11, 2001.
Alabama Homeland Security Director Jim Walker
said, “Now seven years later, we cannot forget
what happened on that terrible day. We cannot
forget the lives that were lost and how our
country was forever changed.”
September 11th is also a day to
remember those men and women who are working
hard to keep our communities safe. The first
responders and leadership in every
Alabama
county spend their days working to prevent
disasters in
Alabama,
to protect our assets and respond if necessary.
“We need to pray for the men and women in
uniform who continue to put service before
self,” Director Walker added. “Whether serving
overseas or here in
Alabama,
these courageous men and women work tirelessly
to provide a safe and secure environment for us
to live in. I hope all Alabamians will find time
Thursday to thank a police officer, firefighter,
emergency medical technician, member of the
Armed Forces or another first responder. We are
forever grateful to them for their service.”
