Auburn
Montgomery recently named Virtual
Alabama the 2008 Digital Government
Innovation award winner for the state.
Virtual
Alabama won because of its proven efficiency
and responsiveness in government service
delivery.
Alabama
Homeland Security Director Jim Walker says,
"The entire Virtual Alabama team is thrilled
by this recognition from Auburn Montgomery.
Virtual Alabama has won several national
awards, but winning an award here at home is
very gratifying. After all, we created
Virtual Alabama to serve the people of
Alabama and the first responders who go to
work everyday to protect them."
Virtual
Alabama continues to expand to all parts of
government. Virtual Alabama is a
Google-based program that layers data and
information relevant to first responders and
government leaders. The program has won five
national government-technology awards.
